Admission is open to all California residents who are high school graduates, recipients of a Certificate of Proficiency awarded by the State Board of Education, or persons over 18 years of age. Out-of-state students are welcome at Golden West College, paying non-resident fees, usually for the first year. Golden West College begins the admission cycle for the fall semester and summer session on the preceding April 1, and for the spring semester the preceding October 1.

The Class Schedules list hundreds of day and evening courses ranging from the traditional 16 weeks to accelerated classes of just eight weeks in length. Weekend classes are also offered.
