Scott Taylor Head Coach Coach Taylor begins his ninth season leading the GWC program. The former Southern California Player of the Year in 1990, Taylor led the Rustlers to a 33-2 finish and a state title in 2002, the 18th title in the program’s history. Since that time, Taylor has led the most successful community college water polo program to the State Finals each year. As a player, Taylor helped the Rustlers win back-to-back championships in 1989 and ’90. After leaving GWC, he continued his playing career at UC Santa Barbara in 1991 and 1992. Prior to taking over the Rustler head coaching duties, Taylor served as an assistant with the GWC polo program for three seasons. He also coaches and supervises the GWC swim program. Taylor began his coaching career at Marina High School in 1993, before moving on to his alma mater, Costa Mesa High in 1994. He coached both the boys and girls programs for the Mustangs through 1997. In 1998, Taylor jumped to Rancho Santa Margarita High, again coaching both the boys and girls squads. |

Ken Hamdorf Assistant Coach A member of the U.S. Water Polo Hall of Fame, Coach Hamdorf has been a part of the GWC men’s water polo program since 1977. His dedication to the program and the sport has helped the Rustlers become and continue to remain the most dominant community college water polo program in the nation. As head coach of the Rustlers, Hamdorf won nine state titles, seven Southern Section championships, and 11 conference titles. In his 15 years leading the program, he compiled an overall record of 425-46-2. His coaching success has helped as many as 47 former Rustlers attain All-America honors. Five times he was selected as the California Community College Coach of the Year. Hamdorf played for Fullerton College and Long Beach State University where he named Forty-Niner of the Year in both 1961 and 1962. He began his coaching career at Westminster High in 1962, where he stayed through the ’65 season. He then moved on to Lakewood High, running the program their from 1966 to 1976. He then spent one season at Long Beach Wilson High before coming to GWC. |
