Poor Shooting Leads to First Conference Loss

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA - The Golden West College (GWC) women's basketball team dropped their first conference game against Riverside 33-69.
Another poor shooting night hurts the Lady Rustlers in their first conference game. Golden West shooting only 20% for the night couldn’t put enough points on the board to give the Tigers a game.
On the defensive end the Rustlers were led by Deena Hyman with 13 rebounds. Susana Franco scored one-third of the points for Golden West and had 3 rebounds.

Rustlers Unable To Buy a Basket

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA - The Golden West College (GWC) women's basketball team fell short in the closing seconds and face their first loss at home 45-46 against visiting LA Harbor.
Rustlers can’t capitalize and have a poor shooting night going 14 for 62 while dropping to 6-9 on the season.
The Rustlers were led offensively by Monica Chaves and Lindsey Roe. Chaves had a team high 13 points and 7 rebounds and Roe added 11 points and 9 rebounds for Golden West

Habekost Scores Season-High 24 Points

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA - The Golden West College (GWC) women's basketball team defeated visiting Victor Valley for their third consecutive victory at home.
Rustlers’ Guard Heather Habekost was 9-24 on the evening with 24 points, 11 Assists and 9 rebounds in a 78-66 win over Victor Valley.
GWC only shot 25% from behind the arc and 51% from the line but out rebounded the Rams 49-39 for the game.

Golden West Starts Out Strong and Sends Mesa Packing

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA - The Golden West College (GWC) women's basketball team defeated San Diego Mesa to remain undefeated at Home.
Jumping out to a 32-12 halftime lead the Rustlers were able to secure a big enough lead to hold on to any surge Mesa may muster up. Shooting just over 40% in the first half, Golden West once again had three players in double digits (Monica Chavez, Heather Habekost, and Diana Vera).
GWC held Mesa to just 20 percent shooting in the first half and forced 40 turnovers on the game.

Rustlers Open Season with Win over LA City

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA - The Golden West College (GWC) women's basketball team defeated L.A. City in the first game on the 2007-2008 season.
The Rustlers open their season in fashion with an overtime win again LA City. With three Rustlers in double figures, Golden West was able to go the distance and score 8 points in the overtime period to ensure the victory on their home court.
The Rustlers were led offensively by Monica Chavez, Diana Vera, and Michelle Torres. While 7 of 8 Rustlers were able to put points on the board balancing out an even offensive attack.
GWC was able to hold LA City to just 4 points in the overtime period. With the win the Rustlers improve to 1-0 for the season.
