The Architectural Technology program offers a very broad two year sequential Certificate program serving both vocational and transfer track students. Current Architectural training includes an industry endorsed curriculum of design, drafting, model building, presentation rendering/graphics, technical research and CAD coursework. The courses remain very “project” oriented with integrated “real-life” industry standards and scenarios as feasible. Each semester allows students explore and experience increasingly more advanced and creative project types, design solutions, material groups and project design processes. The programs Faculty maintain broad network contacts with local design professionals to bring relevance and viability to program goals and curriculum. The program’s strong emphasis on 3d Design, presentation graphics and expanding CAD training has helped students succeed and fulfill many individual career goals and directions.
Student job preparation is highly successful with very high placement rates in both first and second year students working in all forms of design and architecturally related industries. Many students are able to work part-time and full time after completion.
The transfer rates of student completers remains very high (95%) of the qualified students gaining acceptance with advanced standing to a wide range of western states transfer universities. The success rate and reputation of those who do transfer is well recognized throughout the many impacted programs such as Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly Pomona, USC, Sci-Arc, and Woodbury universities.
