Description:

The Computer Science program offers two general education courses, computer literacy and introduction to information technology/computer science as well as transfer and vocational training.  Transfer offerings include the general education courses and various programming languages.  Vocational courses include the general education courses, programming languages and specific courses in the specialized field of game programming, game engine construction and animation.  It is and has always been the intent of the staff to provide solid instruction to the public at large that have an interest in computer “basics” and programming.  The development of a ‘game programming’ instructional plan was implemented in spring 2004.

Highlights:

  • Instruction for both transfer and vocational students.
  • Content ranges thru: computer literacy, survey of information systems, computer languages and operating systems
  • Languages include: Java, C++, Visual C++, C, Visual BASIC.NET, Visual BASIC, and the latest ‘net’ environment Visual Studio.NET and SQL.
  • All 96 computers have all languages and application software needed for any of the courses taught within the department.
  • Each lecture and lab is equipped with a demonstration/presentation station.
