Description:

The Cosmetology program includes Cosmetology and Esthetics classes. Basic skills in math, science, writing, and critical thinking are included in the curriculum. Courses offered include theory/lecture classes, lecture/demonstration classes, and client labs. Enrollment consists of 160 to 170 students who attend classes 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The client lab serves approximately 300 – 350 customers from the campus and community on a weekly basis. A reputation of excellence recognized throughout the state, nationally, and internationally is reflected in our high enrollment numbers and the successful placement of our graduates.

Highlights:

• The Cosmetology program maintains a high pass/fail ratio for the state licensing (this year in the first 3 quarters our statistics are; 94% - practical, 73% written combining cosmetology and esthetics).
  
• The Cosmetology program maintains an excellent reputation with industry through our advisory committee and faculty outreach.
  
• The cosmetology students won awards in styling, cutting, and make-up in 2004/2006.
  
• The Cosmetology department is active with many outreach projects including hosting the yearly Working Wardrobe event and visitations to career fairs at various high schools.
