Description:

The Office Administration Department, under the Division of Business and Information Systems, offers vocational education classes in the Computer Business Applications program.  Computer Business Application courses include Introduction to Computers, Windows XP, and basic to intermediate/advanced levels in each of the Microsoft Office XP Suite applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, and FrontPage.  Specialized courses such as QuickBooks Pro, Internet, Adobe Acrobat, Machine Calculation with Spreadsheet Applications, and Software Multimedia Concepts are also offered.  Office Administration also offers and promotes the foundational business education skills such as Administrative Business Procedures, Business English, Filing and Records Management, Introductory and Intermediate Computer Keyboarding; Proofreading Skills, and Shorthand Skills.  Office Administration maintains a symbiotic relationship with business skills and computer application skills to enhance the fundamental skills required in today’s complex and ever-evolving workplace.

  • Create, update, and review curriculum on a semester basis to prepare students for future careers in a fast-changing world.
  • Devise new online course offerings each semester to better meet students’ unique schedules.
  • Develop application-specific student handbooks by innovative faculty.
  • Enhance classroom technology by providing high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Enhance student involvement in the decision-making process through the department’s advisory committee.
  • Develop student learning objectives and implement measures to assess student learning for each course offering.
  • Work with Office Administration’s Advisory Committee members to gain insight on new and emerging technology trends in business and industry.
  • Work with Community Services to attract new student audiences by developing half-day office assistant training seminars per the direction of the Advisory Committee.
