Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) - CSU

California Community Colleges are now offering associate degrees for transfer to the CSU. These may include Associate in Arts (AA-T) or Associate in Science (AS-T) degrees. These degrees are designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU major and baccalaureate degree. California Community College students who are awarded an AA-T or AS-T degree are guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system and given priority admission consideration to their local CSU campus or to a program that is deemed similar to their community college major. This priority does not guarantee admission to specific majors or campuses.

Students who have been awarded an AA-T or AS-T are able to complete their remaining requirements for the 120-unit baccalaureate degree within 60 semester or 90 quarter units.

Below is the most current list of Golden West College Associate Degrees for Transfer and to find out which CSU campuses accept each degree, visit: ADT Major and Campus Search

UC Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)

A TAG is a written agreement between the student, the community college and a specific university within the University of California (UC) system, which states that if the student meets the requirements, the student is admitted to the university. The TAG helps the student to understand

  • The courses he or she must complete before transferring
  • The minimum GPA he or she must earn
  • The number of units required to transfer
  • The specific major requirements for highly selective majors

TAG is a free, quick and easy way to determine if the student is eligible for admission to a specific university within the UC system. The TAG secures a seat at a selected university, provided that the student meets the conditions specified in the agreement.

WHEN TO START A TAG

It depends on the school that the student wants to attend. A TAG is generally written ONE YEAR BEFORE the student plans to transfer. Most universities require that a minimum of 30 units are completed prior to submitting a TAG application.

HOW TO BEGIN A TAG

Starting July 1: The new TAG Matrix will post for the next academic year.

  1. Complete a UC Transfer Admissions Planner (TAP) before you apply for Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) through the TAP account online. A TAP is an online tool to help prospective transfer students track and plan their coursework. The planner helps students track their progress toward meeting UC’s minimum requirements, and allow UC staff to communicate important information to prospective transfer students.
  2. Review your TAP with a counselor or Transfer Center staff to make sure all requirements are met prior to TAG submission.
  3. Submit your TAG application between September 1st-30th (Fall admissions) and May 1st-31st (Winter/Spring admissions)
  4. Complete the UC Application for admission starting the month of August through November.
  5. Submit UC Application between October 1st-November 30th for Fall admission.
  6. Students are strongly encouraged to consult with a counselor or the Transfer Center prior to completing/submitting the TAG application.

Students can submit one (1) TAG from a choice of six (6) participating UCs (Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara, or Santa Cruz). If transfer plans change, students are not obligated to attend the TAG schools. However, TAG agreements are university specific and may not be altered or substituted for another university. So, if a student decides to go to a different university than was specified in the TAG agreement, the agreement may not be applied to another university.

If the student completes a TAG, he or she will be given first consideration for admission to the selected university. The student must complete agreed-upon general education courses, and major specific requirements, with a specified minimum GPA by the date specified in the TAG agreement.

Please note: Transfer students do not have to participate in TAG to be considered for admission. Non-TAG students must also apply for UC admission during the appropriate application filing period (see www.universityofcalifornia.edu/apply).

For further information, please click Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG). For TAG by campus, please click on each individual UC campus below.
