WHAT IS THE GWC TRANSFER ACADEMY?

The Transfer Academy is a program designed to support all students, especially students from historically underrepresented groups as they transfer to four-year institutions. We are committed to providing Transfer Academy students with an enhanced support system that will maximize their pre-transfer educational experience at Golden West College.

WHO COULD BENEFIT?

All students interested in transfer can benefit from participation in the Transfer Academy. The requirements, resources and support services offered are aimed specifically to meet the needs of first-generation college students. 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

To be eligible for Transfer Academy, applicants must have graduated from high school the spring (2023) prior to their first fall (2023) semester and must have an interest in transferring to a four-year institution. Students with graduation dates prior to Spring 2023 with no other college enrollment may also qualify.

Is GWC Transfer Academy is accepting applicants for 2023-2024 only?

Applications will be accepted annually, with first priority given to recent High school students or high school graduates with no prior college attendance, and those attending Golden West College in the 2023-2024 academic year.

HOW TO APPLY?

Step 1:  Fill out our interest form or complete My Academic Plan and indicate interest in the Transfer Academy

Step 2: Complete a Transfer Academy Orientation  

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Complete the Transfer Academy Orientation
  2. Sign a Transfer Academy Agreement
  3. Enroll and successfully complete a Counseling Pathways course (e.g. COUN G150-156 or COUN G104, G105) during first fall semester (fall 2023)
  4. Enroll and successfully complete Counseling G205, Navigating Transfer Process, during first spring semester (spring 2024)
  5. Meet with counselors to create and update SEP
