1.Do not delay taking your English and math courses. The UC requires that students complete transferable level English (UC-E) and Math (UC-M) early in their academic career. Putting off completing these courses could delay your admission.
2. The UC gives high priority to students that complete major coursework early in their academic career. Meet with your academic counselor to plan your coursework.
3. Complete 60 UC transferable semester units with a minimum 2.4 GPA (2.8 for Non-residents) for minimum eligibility. The GPA for admission can be significantly higher due to the applicant pool. Along with English and Math, as well as your major coursework, you are required to complete four courses in at least two of the following GE areas:
a) Physical/Biological Sciences
b) Art/Humanities
c) Social/Behavioral Sciences
4. To satisfy the UC lower-division General Education (GE) requirements, students can follow the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC).
5. Apply on time! All UCs accept Fall Admission, which requires you to apply a full year in advance, November prior. Some UCs accept Winter and Spring applicants, but you should check with the Transfer Center to see which UCs are accepting.
6. Students can use the Transfer Admission Planner to track and plan their coursework toward meeting UCs requirements. This is a great communication tool between students with the UC. The planner can be used to merge into TAG and the UC application.
7. GWC has the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) with UCD, UCI, UCM, UCR, UCSB, and UCSC. TAG application filing period will be from September 1-30, 2019 for Fall 2020 and May 1-30, 2020 for Winter/Spring 2021 admission. Please check with a counselor or the Transfer Center for more information.
